Helping progress drivers to the next level of motorsports, several former Snap-on Stars of Karting Series participants were in action this past weekend all over the world. Scoring victories and podiums in Europe, on dirt oval and in road racing, series graduates represented well in all forms of motorsports over the October 3 - 5 weekend.

conor_daly.jpgMost recent series graduate Conor Daly was victorious in the Skip Barber National Championship at Virginia International Raceway. The former Stars TaG driver drove to the checkers in race one and went on to claim a second place podium result in the race two to claim the 2008 Skip Barber National Championship. Along with the title, Daly was also awarded a fully paid ride in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship Presented by Goodyear.

The young and talented Cole Whitt was victorious this past weekend in Terra Haute, Indiana as the Californian claimed the 57th annual United States Auto Club (USAC) Hut Hundred at Action Track speedway. The multi-time series champion and Red Bull sponsored pilot started on the outside front row and led early before losing the top spot half way through the event. Storming back in the late stages, Whitt retook the lead and drove to a two second victory and became one of only two 16-year-old drivers to win in this season's action.

Red Bull driver Robert Wickens, who competed in Stars of Karting action in 2004 and 2005, claimed the Formula 3 Euroseries win this weekend at the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit in France. The talented Canadian pilot has claimed the Formula BMW championship, a Mazda Atlantic Championship win, Canada's first and only A1GP victory and has now become a race winner in the Formula 3 Euroseries.

Former Intercontinental A (ICA) and 2007 Skip Barber champion Joel Miller just missed the top step of the podium in Star Mazda action at Road Atlanta but did claim a solid second place result. The Californian leads the overall series championship by 11 markers as they head to the final event this coming weekend at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in conjunction with the Americajoel_miller.jpgn Le Mans Series.

Also in action at Road Atlanta were Canadians and formers Stars of Karting front runners Kevin Lacroix and James Hinchcliffe in the Mazda Atlantic Championship. Former PSL Karting pilot and now driving for Walker Racing, Lacroix claimed the second podium step while Forsythe Petit Racing pilot James Hinchcliffe claimed the third and final podium position.

The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series National Finals will take place October 10 - 12, 2008 on a temporary circuit on the grounds of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
