With the Snap-On Stars of Karting presented by the Indy Racing League's Western Division showdown a mere couple of days away, the Stars TaG class has shaped up as a multi-kart slugfest for the top three spots in the points championship, with a temporary circuit in Seattle as the battleground.
Stars TaG drivers Michael Self and Pat Iannucci currently sit second and third in points - well-positioned to take a run at the class championship. On the strength of their strong finishes at the previous round at Miller Motorsports Park - when Self took two feature wins with Iannucci providing good support by finishing second. Brothers Adam and Andrick Zeen have been showing remarkable pace lately and will also be competing in Stars TaG class.
"Considering how fierce the competition has been in Stars TaG this year, it is great to have two drivers in position to win the championship," said team principal Phil Giebler. "Our guys have been driving well and we have been continuing to find speed in our Sodi chassis. The temporary track provides a unique driving and setup challenge but our guys are more than up to the task."
Ryan Yop will also be competing as G-Phactory's solo entrant in ICC in Seattle. Yop sits twelfth in points, with an outside shot at cracking the top 10. Also competing for the team will be JICA driver Thomas Micich.
The team begins practice on the nine turn, .625-mile temporary circuit on Friday morning.
